Reflecting

Over the past few weeks, our students have been involved in events and studies that have built upon one another to continue to guide them towards being in a closer relationship with Christ.  It all started with our DiscipleNOW theme ID3NTITY.  Our students spent an entire weekend studying about who they are in Christ and who Christ calls them to be.  They were challenged to be known by Christ and to be a follower and not a fan.  Out of that weekend, at least 4 students were saved and we have seen 2 of them baptized.  Watching students be transformed is something that never grows old.  To see students’ flames/passion for Christ be reignited bears witness of the power of God working in their lives.

Following D-Now, we went to YEC (Youth Evangelism Conference).  Our students were challenged to be real with God and for God. The most powerful part of YEC were the videos of Zack, Elezar, Randle, and Jeremiah.  It all started with Zack beginning to invite Elezar to church in the 4th grade.  Eventually Elezar went to church and Christ changed his life.  Fast forward a couple of years and Elezar meets Randle on a school bus.  Randle is new to the area as his family had moved from Idaho.  Elezar eventually gets Randle to come to church and Randle meets Christ.  Fast forward again and Jeremiah calls Randle out of the blue one day and asks if Randle could take him to church.  Almost 1 most ago, Jeremiah encounters Christ.  All because of one person, 4 total lives are changed for eternity.

So who is your Elezar?  Who is that one person you desire to bring to church?  Who is the one friend you know you need to share Christ with?  As followers of Christ, we are given a Spirit of power not one of timidity.  We should be compelled by love to share Christ with our friends and those who need to hear.  As we look forward to the coming weeks and months, it is my prayer that as we continue to seek God and build upon what He is doing and where He is leading, we spend time with God each day continuing to deepen our relationship with Him and praying for opportunities to share Christ.
